star trails and an incoming storm
the air was still last night, it was a calming before the storm. the clouds built above the sierra crest and i was on the beach for the few minutes after the clouds broke. the motion of the clouds mirrored the rotation of the stars. this image was captured on the north shore of lake tahoe, near tahoe city california. the glow in the distance is south lake and beyond. the shutter was open for about 20 minutes allowing the stars to move over the horizon.
